Art Gate VR is pleased to announce the sponsorship of York University‘s School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design (AMPD) with free exhibition space in Virtual Reality (VR). Covid shutdowns have closed classrooms, galleries, and important cultural spaces. Together, York University and Art Gate are re-imagining the idea of exhibitions with VR technology. The following information is for York University AMPD Program students and faculty who wish to exhibit in VR.
What is Art Gate?
Art Gate is an new exhibition context in virtual reality. People exhibit art, host events, and have cultural exchanges as they would in real life, the only difference is that rather than opening a door to walk into a gallery, people put on a VR headset. Real artwork and real people from around the globe connect in Art Gate VR.
-Join and host social art events with people from around the world
-Buy and sell artwork
-Connect with international collectors, galleries, and artists
What do exhibition spaces in VR look like?
How do I setup my exhibition?
1. Create account online: www.artgatevr.com/app
2. Upload Artwork.
3. Email admin@3.231.148.19 a picture of your York U student or faculty ID. (use email address you linked to your Art Gate account) Within 4 days a free gallery space will be added into your account.
4. Drag and drop artworks into exhibition.
Done! Your exhibition will auto-populate in VR. Put on your headset and enjoy.

How do I schedule programming/ events?
After you are completed curating your space we recommend to attend and host social events.
1. RSVP to events taking place in VR here: http://3.231.148.19/art-events/
2. After joining a few events host one of your own here: Programming Submissions
3. Complete form & submit
Done!
Programming confirmation will be emailed in 48hrs
Once confirmed Art Gate and partners will help market the event alongside your marketing efforts.
